The toddler class is designed for two year olds. The program goal of this class is to provide an environment that will encourage exploration, help the child interact with other adults and children, and assist in motor, cognitive, and social-linguistic development. The children are introduced to their religion through Bible stories. Each class is limited to ten (10) children with a teacher and an assistant. The children are not expected to be potty trained. Diapers are to be provided by the child's parents.
The children in the three-year-old program are introduced to a school atmosphere and become accustomed to a routine schedule. Lessons are short and centered around various themes throughout the year, which are guided by the "Sharing God's Story" Year 3 series and Seasonal/Holiday themes. Throughout the year, special community persons are invited into the classroom to enhance the curriculum themes. The classes are limited to twelve (12) children in a single room, and fourteen (14) children in a double room, with a teacher and an assistant. Children must be potty trained.
Preschool Plus now available!
The Preschool Plus Program is a before and after care option that provides stimulating child care for students enrolled in St. Mary's Early Education Program. The Preschool Plus Program is staffed by our preschool teachers who all have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and many years of experience in the classroom.
2016-1017 school year:
Before Care from 8a.m.-9a.m. for all ages. Cost = $7/day
After Care from 12p.m.-2p.m. for students in the 3-year-old and Pre-K classes. Cost = $13/day
Breakfast and/or Lunch provided.
The Pre-K program is designed to be the year before kindergarten. More attention is given to letter and number recognition. The children are taught to recognize and to write their names. They are learning responsibility through classroom jobs such as door holder or line leader. Lessons are longer and more involved due to the children's increased attention span. The children participate in learning centers more independently. "Sharing God's Story" Year 4 series is the religion series. In-house Field trips are scheduled throughout the year to enrich the curriculum and provide an opportunity for the children to experience different aspects of our community. The classes are limited to twelve (12) children in a single room, and sixteen (16) children in a double room, with a teacher and an assistant. Children must be potty trained.
Our curriculum is based on both diocesan and state guidelines, and we use the diocesan report card format.
